Music for Polyxeni Angelidou and Sofia Karagiourgou’s performance The Glory Of Decay.

“Establishing their own chronology, two bodies set in binary opposition disrupt and transgress the laws of time. In this heterotopic landscape symbols and fictions of Western Culture succumb to the will of nature. Places, icons, systems of power and knowledge, and reflections of the contemporary status quo are violently invaded by external forces. Here stable structures deteriorate and parasitic elements take hold. The object decomposes and in order to evolve, adapts to survive. The body and its freedom of movement is in turn affected and changes. The autonomy of the body‘s rhythm and its verticality becomes platform of an emergent symbiosis and exchange.
Polyxeni and Sofia started working together last fall. This piece will be the first result of their collaboration. They investigate ways of collaborative authorship and they are focused on transmitting meaning through minimalistic choreographic compositions.“

Recorded in Barcelona during a tumultuous political period, Stonebeads draws from the turmoil affecting the personal sphere and the contrasting landscape of a buzzing city surrounded by a soothing nature.
With a bright intro distinguished by an ascending synth sound, the track immediately defines itself as a gentle invocation for bliss, setting an harmonic tone that stands firmly in between tranquility and playfulness.
The conflict starts when the bass line kicks in, consistently thumping side by side the sparse but steady beats.
While the middle of the composition invokes a feeling of hesitation, the ending confirms the overall sense of elation, leaving behind a glaring echo of distant notes.
